Grief Recovery Outreach ProgramTM
Grief is the normal and natural reaction to loss. While the death of a loved
one is considered to be one of the most painful losses, we can also experience significant grief stemming from other life
circumstances, such as divorce or the break-up of a significant relationship, a move, loss of a job or career, retirement
and health issues. Oftentimes these situations lead to subsequent losses, such as the loss of your dreams, loss of trust in
others, and the loss of security.
Sadness, fear, anger, confusion, depression, anxiety, inability to concentrate
and insomnia are just some of the normal symptoms of grief. A person experiencing grief can feel totally alone and isolated
as they try to deal with the conflicting emotions caused by loss. GRIEF REALLY HURTS!
Unfortunately, grief is often
one of the most misunderstood and off-limit topics for discussion in our society. And as we are feeling isolated and
misunderstood, grief must be worked through in order to move forward in a healthy way. It is not uncommon for people to experience
multiple losses over the course of their lifetime. Unresolved grief accumulates and can affect our lives at many different
levels. It can adversely affect our present and future relationships, attitudes, motivation, self-confidence, self-esteem,
and many other areas of our lives.
COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT GRIEF:
Bury your feelings.
Grieve alone.
Be strong for others.
Time heals all wounds.
Replace the loss.
THE
TRUTH ABOUT GRIEF RECOVERY:
Grief recovery requires you to experience and express your feelings.
Grief recovery
requires you to reach out to others.
Grief recovery allows you to resolve your grief,
as unresolved grief can accumulate with other grief over time.
Grief recovery is necessary to form future, healthy
relationships.
Grief recovery strengthens you and creates wisdom!
The
Grief Recovery Outreach Program is an 11 week, step by step, group program that will help you resolve your grief. You will
connect with others who understand your pain in a safe environment. It was developed to help you learn appropriate skills
that lead to successful resolution and completion of relationships that have ended or changed. You learn new skills
and participate in exercises that will guide you to awareness, acceptance, action, recovery and the movement beyond your loss.
